Masterclasses
Join Dr. Tracy Rainwaters for an introduction in learning to identify the difference between posture and confirmation. Our horses posture gives us so much feedback as to how they are utilizing their body in motion. Learning to identify abnormal posture can be one of the first steps in preventing lameness in our equine friends.
We will discuss how modern sport horse breeding has changed the biomechanics and movement of sport horses and how this affects our equine athletes in training. We will discuss normal versus compensatory muscle structure and how to evaluate our horses’ posture to determine if they are utilizing proper biomechanics. We will do a brief overview of spinal mechanics and how training can affect spinal health and mobility.
Understanding how our horse’s spine facilitates movement is a key component of developing a happy and sound equine partner. Join me for this masterclass on understanding the equine spine.
This masterclass is designed to give you a foundational understanding of how the equine spine is designed to facilitate movement and how we can determine if we are developing our horse’s bodies correctly.
We will explore:
· How spinal movement affects performance & soundness.
· How each region of the spine is designed to move for optimum health & performance.
· How to identify correct spinal motion through observing movement and posture.
· Body lameness, injury prevention and so much more!
